It's just a demuxer. You can use either mplayer's original MOV/MP4 demuxer, or
lavformat demuxer (doesn't support embedded subtitles yet and a couple of
other features as well, but it works).

The last one may be enabled this way: mplayer -demuxer lavf your_file.
