[MPlayer-users] mencoder mjeg result all black video (just rc1)

I have an AVI that looks like the following:

9905kpps 29.970 fps 720x480 MJPG video
1536kbps 4800hz 2 channel PCM audio

If I try to put this through mencoder rc1 to convert it to
anything ( flv, mpeg4, ect ), I end up with a black video
at about 45 kpbs. If I use mencoder pre8 it works just
fine. Did something change or is this possibly an rc1 bug?

Here is an example of the bad output:
