please, don't top post.
if you dump and remux the raw streams you lose all timing informations 
of the original streams;
you had better use
$ mencoder -of mpeg -mpegopts format=dvd:tsaf -oac copy -ovc copy -o 
file.mpg orig.mpg
(possibly adding -demuxer lavf)
