That certainly could be the case, but I'd think it's more likely
MPlayer's sync code being less than perfect.

Only difference is the loss of the IFO mapping between language
(-alang/-slang eg/de/fr) and id (-aid/-sid) so you might get a
different audio track than you are expecting.
