[MPlayer-users] how to enable x264

Hello all,

I downloaded mplayer from svn:
after  untaring  the essential-20061022 package and put it in 
/usr/local/lib/codecs,
I run ./configure from within the mplayer dir created by svn.

When ./configure finished, I have:
Disabled optional drivers:
    Input: vstream radio live555 cddb cdda dvdnav smb
    Codecs: 1/ x264 :( 
                  2/ xvid :( 
                  libdv amr_wb amr_nb faac
                 3/ musepack :( 
                 libdts libtheora :( 
                speex  twolame toolame libmad liblzo gif

How to enable 1, 2  and 3  when doing configure.
Normally these are detected automatically, obviously this is not the case.
I am missing something, sure.
