[MPlayer-users] dumped realmedia stream not playable with realplayer

I recently used the dumpstream feature of mplayer 1.0rc1 (run on
Linux) to save a live realmedia stream (containing both audio and
video). When I try to play the resulting file with realplayer
10.0.8.805 on Linux the player refuses to play the file and displays
no error; on Mac OSX 10.4.9 (Intel), realplayer 10.1.0.490 plays a
brief instant of the file and then stops the playback with no
error. The file can be replayed without any issue using mplayer itself
(both on Linux and on Mac OSX). Is there some way to fix the file such
that it can be played with other players that understand the realmedia
codecs?
