[MPlayer-users] Starting Mplayer without playing a media file

Hi,
I'm looking for a way to start mplayer without playing a mediafile but with OSD enabled. My goal is to have mplayer running all the time and control it with a remote control (including loading files etc.). If I run mplayer with the -gui argument the "-menu" argument seems to be disabled (no OSD-menu available).
