[MPlayer-users] Must resample=48000 to play sound properly on Kubuntu 7.04 (Feisty)

Hello all,

I am using svn 22783. I am fairly sure that the problem started when I
upgraded from Edgy to Feisty Herd 5, but I do not have an easy way to prove
it. The sound is not clear, like a radio that is not tuned exactly to the
correct frequency. If I -af resample=48000, it plays correctly. It is not an
mplayer problem as such because xine is also affected (then again, maybe
xine uses libavcodec?). Kaffeine plays the video with no sound. Still, I
would like to understand what is going on.

I experience the problem with files containing Windows Media Audio and Real
Audio. A Quicktime file (mp4a) and and AVI (MP3) played correctly without
resampling. The problem files had 44100 KHz sound, while the good files had
48000 KHz audio.
