[MPlayer-users] How to get mediafile info and then exit?

Hi, Everybody,

FFMPEG had a very useful side effect: it shows the source file info and then
is terminated if you assign the only "-i <input file>" parameter. It is very
helpful to use it as a media file format detector. Unfortunately MPlayer has
no similar features. It always wants the output file. Could MPlayer
developers add anything like FFMPEG feature, described above? E.g. it would
be great to have a command line like:
mplayer --info <source-file>, which call would just produce the detailed
file info (all found streams with their format names and parameters). What
you think about it?

Thanks.
