[MPlayer-users] two pass encoding and audio only in 2nd pass?

Hello,

I read somewhere, that when doing a two pass encoding using mencoder in 
the first pass you can skip audio encoding or use -oac copy and do the 
audio encoding in the second pass, e.g. -oac mp3lame.

Is this true and safe to do?
