Hi, thank you so much. I am pretty savvy spinning up with new toolsets,
but please make me understand,
./configure --enable-static --prefix=/opt/mplayer
That is not a Windows XP shell command... this is Linux, or am I missing something here? :-)
Also, if present version of RC2 is impossible to compile for Windows XP, completely within Windows XP then maybe this is where I am confused. :|

Do a google using the words: mingw HOWTO mplayer
Should lead you to the HOWTO page on mplayerhq's website for
compiling
mplayer using mingw.

If you're not too familiar with Linux, using mingw is not going to be
easy.
