For the log, you need to send log with more verbose output "mplayer -v
-v ..." , no need to play the whole movie, quit as soon as image shows
(or use -frames 3).

It's better if you do provide log from "latest vanilla" svn mplayer,
as rc2 is almost year old and ubuntu build may have some
"improvements".
