[MPlayer-users] Building mplayer from snapshot

Tried to build mplayer from sbapshot.
Configure failed to detect libx264.
.
.
.
Checking for x264 ... no (in libavcodec: no)
.
.
.

So I checked my system:
$ ls -l /usr/lib/libx264*
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 666900 2007-05-30 12:01 /usr/lib/libx264.a
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root     13 2008-12-06 17:07 /usr/lib/libx264.so -> 
libx264.so.55*

$ rpm -qa | grep x264
x264-0.0.0-0.3.20070529.fc7

How do I "encourage" the configure script to find it?
