svgalib will probably not work on 64 bit systems, and frame buffer
support is IMO quite rare.
cvidix is another solution (and it is quite fast), but it only works with
rather old graphics cards.
Usually you'd go with an X server (xorg) and use -vo xv (or if that is
not available -vo x11), but setting up an X server can be a bit of a
pain unless it is set up automatically during installation (as almost
all distributions do nowadays).
