[MPlayer-users] fifo's used in web apps

I'm sure somebody has done this before.  Basically I'm trying to make just
a jukebox controlled via some php scripts.  I can get mplayer to play
stuff, and to do stuff. I just can't get information back out, like for
example, what's currently playing.  Kinda important when the user
interface is stateless.

Does anyone know of anything that does this?  I'm trying with lightttpd
and php, because it's only for my house, but anything would be useful.
