[MPlayer-users] MPlayer limitation: 'seek' in large wav files?

Hi,

I have a large wav file of 2.1 gig. I have noticed that MPlayer cannot
'seek' within this file after a certain limit, about 03:25:00 into the
file:
+---------------
andrew at skamandros~/music/4tet$ mplayer -ss 03:25:00 4tet1.wav
MPlayer dev-SVN-r27911-4.2.3 (C) 2000-2008 MPlayer Team
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU         T5500  @ 1.66GHz (Family: 6,
Model: 15, Stepping: 2)
CPUflags:  MMX: 1 MMX2: 1 3DNow: 0 3DNow2: 0 SSE: 1 SSE2: 1
Compiled for x86 CPU with extensions: MMX MMX2 SSE SSE2

Playing 4tet1.wav.
Audio only file format detected.
==========================================================================
Opening audio decoder: [pcm] Uncompressed PCM audio decoder
AUDIO: 44100 Hz, 2 ch, s16le, 1411.2 kbit/100.00% (ratio:
176400->176400)
Selected audio codec: [pcm] afm: pcm (Uncompressed PCM)

AO: [oss] 44100Hz 2ch s16le (2 bytes per sample)
Video: no video

And instead seek fails and the file is played rom the beginning. Going
back a little seek is successful:

andrew at skamandros~/music/4tet$ mplayer -ss 03:15:00 4tet1.wav

I am aware of some of the problems of very large wav files but is
there a way to get MPlayer to successfully seek with wav files between
2 - 4 gigs?

  Andrew
