[MPlayer-users] Converting audio file with mencoder

Hi,

Is it possible to use mencoder to convert an audio-only file? 

 mencoder -af volnorm -of rawaudio -oac lavc -lavcopts 
acodec=libmp3lame:abitrate=256 -o out.mp3 test.wav

and I get:

. . .
Audio file file format detected.
Video stream is mandatory!

Exiting...

Please help.
