[MPlayer-users] is it possible to play and to dump stream simultaneously ?

My understanding was that it already is, but looking at the source code,
it appears to depend on the priority level of the message - anything
more important than MSGL_HINT is printed to stderr, anything else to
stdout.

Presumably outputting video to stdout would also turn off any
messages which would be printed at a 'stdout level', but I don't see any
code for that... Reimar, since you say it works, do you happen to know
how that problem is dealt with? Is there something obvious I'm missing?

(I do also see a startling number of printf() calls in the source, no
few of them in places which look like they would get called... most of
them are in imported libraries or the like, which there's reason not to
change, but it seems to me that it would still cause problems.)
