[MPlayer-users] libdvdnav status for mplayer?

Hi,

I thought i would try libdvdnav with mplayer as DVD menu is the only
reason I have vlc installed for. I use mplayer for absolutely
everything else.

I am using OpenBSD-current and the version of mplayer found in ports
(mplayer-1.0rc2p8) and the new version of dvdnav (libdvdnav-4.1.2).

I had difficulty build dvdnav. It seemed to incorrectly report that my
autotools were too old and would not build atall with automake 1.9.
After commenting version checks and using automake 1.8 I got a build.

My build of mplayer then seems to play dvd menus fine if you invoke
`mplayer dvdnav://`, but i cant interact with the menu. The keypad
keys in the manual dont do anything apart from 5 which restarts the
menu.

After adding -nocache, I am able to move a highlighted box over the
menu, but selecting things with 5 restarts the menu.

What if you want to cache the actual film? Can you not have mplayer
automatically disable the cache just for the menu and resume normal
caching afterwards?

Also the dvd tray remains locked after quitting mplayer, very annoying.

So my questions are:

a) Is this supposed to work?

b) If so, is this a bug in the build/software?

Thanks

PS. There is a separate dvdread port in OpenBSD, but dvdnav appears to
install it also. It this maintained as a part of dvdnav now?
