Hi,

I found that the EDL (edit decision list) operations are not OK for
videos taken from Pentax digital cameras (at least with the Pentax Optio
T10 that I have). I've reported it a while ago:

http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.video.mplayer.user/61076

 Subject: EDL operation not OK for Pentax camera videos
 Newsgroups: gmane.comp.video.mplayer.user
 Date: 2009-08-17

I've updated the mplayer/mencoder package since, but the problem persists.

The symptoms are:

- when playing with

 mplayer imgp2186.avi -edl imgp2186.avi.edl

 it doesn't play well: sound turns to static noise, and video ended
abruptly.

Using -hr-edl-seek, or -force-idx doesn't help here:

 $ mplayer -hr-edl-seek imgp2186.avi -edl imgp2186.avi.edl
 Unknown option on the command line: -hr-edl-seek
 Error parsing option on the command line: -hr-edl-seek
 MPlayer SVN-r29980 (C) 2000-2009 MPlayer Team

 $ mplayer -force-idx imgp2186.avi -edl imgp2186.avi.edl
 Unknown option on the command line: -force-idx
 Error parsing option on the command line: -force-idx
 MPlayer SVN-r29980 (C) 2000-2009 MPlayer Team

Using '-mc 0' can help mplayer plays to the end, but will get

 Cannot sync MAD frame:-15.100 ct: -1.467 221/221  6%  4%  0.1% 2 0

right after first skip, and no sound afterward.

- when playing the converted imgp2186-.avi with

 mplayer imgp2186-.avi

I get the same result as above: sound turns to static noise, and
video ended abruptly.

The imgp2186-.avi file was converted with:

 mencoder -of avi -oac mp3lame -ovc x264 -x264encopts
 trellis=1:mixed_refs:8x8dct:crf=25 -srate 8000 -edl
 imgp2186.avi.edl -o imgp2186-.avi imgp2186.avi

Using '-hr-edl-seek' can help mplayer plays to the end, but will get

 Cannot sync MAD frame:-15.100 ct: -1.467 221/221  6%  4%  0.1% 2 0

right after first skip, and no sound afterward.

I've upload the imgp2163.avi file to ftp mplayerhq.hu /MPlayer/incoming/,
as "mencoder_coverts_audio_stream_shorter.avi", and imgp2186.avi.edl as
"mencoder_coverts_audio_stream_shorter.avi.edl".

Please investigate.

Thanks

FYI, my mplayer/mencoder:

 $ apt-cache policy mplayer
