Similar demand have been seen over the years, one approach could be the
use of Nvidia'CUDA. Under windows there is a software which does this,
but I haven't tried it.

If you search the ml about CUDA and mplayer/mencoder you shall find some
info, but it will certainly be a lot of work before anything would work.
