[MPlayer-users] Keyboard control not shown on the screen

I'm just experimenting Mplayer builded from svn source.  I had always had the
version that came with Debian.

I installed it succefully (it seems), but when I use keystrokes like 9 and 0
for the volume, or `o' to see the time, nothing is shown, whereas in my older
Mplayer versions I could see on the screen a graphical effect of those
commands.

What did I miss?
