than a super-optimized compiler build and we will not see DivX 4.11 for
Linux until they made true improvements. There is no true support for
DivX4Linux. Therefore it maybe a good idea to have a look at the Xvid
project (http://www.videocoding.de/) that continues the work of OpenDivx and
is currently compareable in speed to DivX 4.02 and performs better in final
size estimation (two pass) and has some additional nice features build-in or
to come.

As they follow the DivX API it shouldn't be to difficult to add Xvid
compression beside DivX4.

With an encoder frontend like Mencoder it would be easy for more people to
help them troubleshooting Xvid.

Is this far to difficult to implement or could it be done as easy as I
think?

So long,
