I haven't view many DVDs on my computer, an Asus eeepc with external USB DVD drive. But, when I did, the results were great. Now, however, on two professionally manufactured DVDs, the video is choppy and barely watchable. Audio appears fine. The playback abruptly ended. The first DVD played very well on a DVD player feeding a television set, which has me wondering if the external DVD drive is the problem.
Below is the last part of what was displayed on the console during playback:

Neither DVD would play at all using totem.
S, is this symtomatic of a failing DVD drive?
Thanks.
