[MPlayer-users] Horizontal lines with HD .mkv files

After solving the keyboard problem with mplayer in video mode under the console
(different thread), I've run into another problem which seems to be related to
buffering at a high data rate. When viewing an .mkv HD video there are
occasional horizontal lines or slices across the screen that migrate upwards.
Apart from this, the picture is beautiful. These lines are not present on a
low-resolution video display such as 720x480.

I suspect the problem lies in buffering the video screen. I'm reading from a
Hitachi 2TB SATA2 disk, which is as fast as any SATA2 disk I've ever seen. My
video card is a GEForce 210 and I'm running a dual-core pentium linux system

Now the question: If I am correct in my suspicion that the problem is in
buffering, can anyone suggest how I might change buffer sizes or treatment to
eliminate the problem? If it's not buffering, can anyone suggest what the
problem might be and a possible solution?
