[MPlayer-users] Mplayer and the fps setting

Hi, all.

I’m new to the list and quite new to the Mplayer tool. I got in touch with this tool after installing the Easycap60 driver for Linux which needed the Mplayer tool for running the testscripts.

Mplayer has a lot of options, one of the things I like is to be able to save a jpg at a certain interval.

So, after Googling around I came up with this line: mplayer tv:// -tv driver=v4l2:device=/dev/easycap0 -fps 1 -nosound -vo jpeg

Indeed, an image gets saved every second. So, the easy way, I changed –fps to .1 (and tried 0.1) to get an image every 10 seconds.

Mplayer lets me know:
FPS forced to be 0.100 (ftime: 10.000) but now saves around 10 images per second. I changed –fps to .01 and even more images appear per second.

Would setting the FPS to lower than one frame per second not be the best solution for an intervalled upload ?

Can someone help me out what would be the right way ?

Thanks in advance,

Ben
