I have no idea. The only thing I see is that mplayer doesn't complain
while playing the video. Is there a tool to analyze video data,
checking for errors and problems?

Below is what mplayer shows for my `in.dvi'.

> how was it made?

It has been produced on MS Vista; after plugging in the Camcorder
(using a firewire connection) a program automatically started (`Import
video') which offered, among other options, to copy the video tape's
DV data into a single AVI, and this is what I've selected. It's a
9GByte file, making it hard to provide it for further analysis...

Well, I have to process and merge data from three different
camcorders; one of the input videos was produced with MS Vista (see
above), the next one with dvgrab, and the last one is a ready-to-run
DVD produced by a camcorder itself. None of those is accepted by
avidemux 2.5.2, but mplayer plays them perfectly...

Sigh. Just capturing what mplayer plays would be sooo nice and easy
for me...
