All,

I've been working with mplayer and having audio be redirected between
different pulse audio outputs.

My setup is like this...

pulse audio device 0 - Logitech USB Headset
pulse audio device 1 - Intel HDA Audio

Default output in pulse is set to pulse::1

If I do

mplayer -ao pulse::0 the audio will play on the headset, but it seems to
switch the default pulse output to this device so if I just use mplayer
- -ao pulse for the next file the audio comes out the headset rather than
system speakers, which is not correct.

Using alsa mode doesn't seem to have this issue.

In alsa the Intel is seen as hw=0.0 and the headset is hw=2.0

I can use mplayer -ao alsa=device=hw=0.0

and

mplayer -ao alsa=device=hw=2.0

to switch correctly between the devices.

So I'm asking if mplayer's pulse ao can be fixed so that is does not set
the default audio device.

Thanks,

Kevin
