Mplayer uses ffodivxvdpau because

a) It's appropriate for the file being played and
b) You told it to use it

Mplayer would fallback to ffodivx only if ffodivxvdpau was not an
appropriate codec to play the file, which is unlikely.

Mplayer doesn't (cannot?) know that your hardware cannot handle what
you have specified to use.
