Hello again.
According to Wikipedia here ---> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_Low_Bitrate_Codec
It says the filename extension is ".lbc".

When I produce these files:-
$ ffmpeg -i foo.wav -c:a libilbc -b:a 15k -ar 8000 -ac 1 foo.lbc

They play OK with FFplay, but MPlayer produces mush.

**************************************************************************
@ubuntu:~$ mplayer foo.lbc
MPlayer SVN-r35706-4.5.2 (C) 2000-2012 MPlayer Team

Playing foo.lbc.
