[MPlayer-users] Playing 24 fps video on a 60 Hz monitor

I'm using mplayer to play 24 fps video on a LCD TV monitor, which
is 1080p at 60 Hz.  My PC runs Linux and has an Nvidia video card.  Does
anyone know exactly what mplayer does to convert the 24 fps in order
to play at 60 HZ?  I can think of two options:
	1. Simply duplicate every 4th frame, which brings the 24 fps video up to 30 fps, then double that to get to 60 Hz.
	2. Perform some sort of telecining where the odd and even fields of  certain frames are duplicated and intertwined to get to 30 Hz, then that is doubled to get to 60 Hz.Are there any other possibilities?  What does mplayer actually do?  Also, my video card is set to sync output with
the vsync signal of the LCD TV which I'm using to display the video.
