I've not looked at the code at all..but could the window reference be being lost or something...  because also there's the other bug in my original email:

Note, if you don't switch to another
 program from the dock, and just do this:
-Play an audio file with embedded folder art  
- Minimize
- Attempt to restore by clicking the mplayer dock icon
This doesn't restore the folder art window, but doesn't crash, 


... So  on minimize, is mplayer handling that event wrongly, and these 2 situations are from that.
