Right - that makes sense.

Yep, noticed that too - I had put off getting a smart phone as long as 
possible but am not discovering these things . .

Why should there be any loss from re-encoding? - I would have thought 
that a rotation (as long as it doesn't include a size reduction or 
conversion to a poorer format) should be able to be lossless . .
