I'm using alsa output with -ao alsa:device=hw=1.1 and afm=hwac3, .
The silence on seeking happens with all files (also normal avi, mp4, or
even audio files), the silence on chapter break only with dvdnav, but I
suppose that is because of the way mplayer (or better put, dvdnav)
navigates from cell to cell.

With pulse, no such thing happens, but I need alsa (and hwac3) for
outputting AC3 or dts to the receiver.
