The problem isn't there.
MPlayer request 44100 HZ sample rate, but ALSA refuses that and only
offers 48000 Hz.
MPlayer then tries to resample, but AC3 can't be resampled.
Or in short: you are trying to use passthrough with
a format that ALSA says your hardware doesn't support.
