this why I first asked you to try:
mplayer -ao list
to see which audio output modules are available.
you obviously have OSS which is not available on raspi and sdl that seems
not to support OGG/vorbis files.
Where did you get mplayer? It's strange that is has OSS output compiled in, when it's not
available on raspi.
However this looks like problem for raspi forums.
