I could not resist...
I have to say, most people do not like being called "it" (I have had
people complain when I called their dog "it" - I still do not know if
I am supposed to ask, guess or check if "he" or "she" is appropriate ;-) ).
Though I admit it is a helpfully annoying solution when someone
complains if I use "he" when they think it not appropriate
(recommendation: using "he/she/it" is exceptionally future-proof. No
risk of getting in trouble with aliens or some such :-P ).
