but its not the default, its the previous value, that is no change
please try:

./ffmpeg -v fatal -v repeat -i matrixbench_mpeg2.mpg -f null -
and
./ffmpeg -v repeat -i matrixbench_mpeg2.mpg -f null -

We could of course change the implementation if there are arguments
that one way is better than the other ...
