The Wanderer said "which serve no obvious function". My question is, does 
trailing whitespace ever serve a function? I seem to remember there is one 
use for it in troff?

I'm asking, so I might add an exception to the checktree.sh script, which 
can also check for trailing whitespace, as to eliminate false positives 
(like the .S case for the uppercase extensions check).
