Yes, that's correct. I don't think using vcodec=xvid is very useful, at
least not at this point. The default settings correspond to lavc, not
xvid, and some xvid options don't have any lavcopts counterpart.

Without knowing so from the code, I'm almost certain this is the case.
There would have to be support in xvid for external ratecontrol, I would
think. Also, mencoder writes an xvid-style divx2pass.log when vcodec=xvid.
