Temporary suspension is not really helpful for that. Also it doesn't
make sense to agitate the topic (which I fear such a "threat" means
unless it has gained _very_ broad support beforehand), especially given
the problems a previous incident has caused.
As to if I were project leader: would it really make a difference?
Any action would still need an amount of support that I do not see
unless things changed greatly since the last time I listened, neither do
I have the impression it would make anyone more open to a compromise they
would consider stupid.
That said I have become tired of this discussion that leads nowhere but
neither am I ready to give up my position as long as I see no clear
opposition that consists of more than one person whose arguments
convince me as little as mine seem to convince the other way round, and
admittedly tired enough to not care about loosing one developer (if that
was all to consider), even not knowing the effects on MPlayer
development for sure.

Greetings,
Reimar Döffinger
