Good reason? How many time how many different people should give you
valid reasons that you don't find "good" enough?

The gcc-2.95.3 rule is not mine. I don't use that compiler (anymore).
But I value portability more than personal preferences in writing
code.

I asked you once to prove that using "declaration after statement"
produces better code in objective (measurable) manner. You ignored it.
This is because it doesn't.
Your "superior" code doesn't acheve anything else than decrease the
number of supported compilers. The only gain is, that you have written
it in a style that _you_ like more.

You are violating rules, oppose everybody who works or have worked in
this project only to enforce your _personal preferences_. With your
stubbornness and arrogance you are hurting the project more than you
contribute to it with your code. And you contribute a lot.

I had my share of flames. I've always stepped back when I couldn't get support.
Step back.
