I don't see what particularly relevant experience you could have. How
much better mga_vid works on those cards to which it is applicable?
Maybe it does but as long as it requires creating a special device
configuring MPlayer too should not be too much to ask. How large a
portion of users would benefit from it? That kind of information doesn't
stay valid over time.

Seems silly to me. Even if there was a good reason to always try mga_vid
first (which I don't think there is) then it would still at least make
sense to make it go out of the way quietly when it won't work.
