It should not be all that hard for FFmpeg to remain compatible with
its upstream if there was willingness to remain compatible.

Been there, done that.  Unfortunately CE intentionally disregards your
requests to moderate his behavior and sputters unacceptable tirades at
every possible occasion.

Ignoring somebody is easy enough when they grit their teeth and cooperate
silently.  But when it comes to active ignoration with bad log messages
that are not subsequently fixed and immediate reverts instead of finding
a proper solution, I don't see how this is supposed to work.

I don't think that's on the same level as insults and accusations of
criminal activity.

That pattern does indeed exist and I have seen and complained about it
many times.  I do not, however, subscribe to that pattern.
