what about this path: ?
1. set up a default palette
2. if we have .IFO file, read paletet from that and override default
3. if we have .IDX and have palette in the .IDX then read it and override 1+2

i think only a single .sub should be playable with no .idx and .ifo.
many user reported that he has only .sub no idx and ifo
