No, 1.0 will be mapped to someting like 1.0.0.65535. The mapping itself
does not really matter as long as it is consistent.

Not really. It will make things easier, since you simply write down
which modules, sourcefiles, etc your software consists of.
You simply dont have to care about makefiles, installing, etc anylonger.

Doesnt matter, since these different builds are generated automatically
as they're required. Its the task of the installer to choose the right 
configuration.
