maybe im' wrong but old configure scripts disabled divx if it found xvid 
installed into your pc
and you can't enable them both.. so nooone could to test or copnfront betheen 
the 2 codec using  mencoder

and then why if ihave xvid  i could not use dixv? they are both mpeg4 codec 
but diffrent codec
