are you sure you didn't just mess up recompiling after the upgrade?
it's possible codecs.conf got skipped over when you recompiled. try
make distclean first if in doubt.. i've had several other people check
this out and no one can reproduce the problem, regardless of 32/64 bit
or endian issues..
