Yes, it should be trivial. I was just looking for some assurance I
hadn't made a typo or silly mistake.

In my opinion, then, somebody ought to go ahead and apply the patch I
sent on 2005-10-17. There's nothing revolutionary and I've tested
successfully on amd64 and a small variety of i386 systems. The only part
I can't test is the prescott/nocona part, but there shouldn't be
anything wrong and, without that patch, configure has no specific
optimization for those two CPUs.
