I've posted a patch to FFmpeg-user to fix the problem, but shall I commit
STRIP=strip anyway in order to get properly stripped libraries? It won't
work if strip doesn't accept -wN though (Mac OS X, for example); the
implementation in FFmpeg is too lazy.
